Louis Weston, Head of the 3PB Sports Group, has acted for the WPBSA and the French Rugby Federation (FFR) in a busy start to February.
WPBSA prosecution
Representing the WPBSA, Louis prosecuted snooker players David John and Jamie Jones. While David John was accused of corruption, admitting to match fixing against Graeme Dott and Joe Perry, Jamie Jones failed to report John’s approach to fix the outcome of his match against Dott.
On 6th February, the WPBSA Disciplinary Committee sanctioned John to a 7 year suspension and Jones to a 16 months suspension. Both players were ordered to pay a fine.
The prosecution and sanctions further underpin WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson and the organisation’s determination to crackdown on corruption and match fixing in the sport.
