The MA has launched a new report into victim experiences in the magistrates' court.
The report focuses on victims' experiences of attending the magistrates’ court and is based on the outcomes of a roundtable held in October 2018. This was attended by a range of relevant stakeholders, including small and large charities and statutory organisations.
The report firstly looks at what the current positives and negatives of the experience are for victims of crime (for example, challenges getting to court, a lack of understanding about the process, worries about interacting with the defendant while at court). It then goes on to look at ways in which the experience of attending court could be improved, before looking at a number of recommendations for the MA and other stakeholders to take forward.
